Hi Guys, recently bought a 2004 R1 from somebody who struck me as a caring owner that knew his bike but the rear suspension is awful.
He'd fitted a 2007 model rear shock as he told me this is a better unit and more adjustable.
Well I don't know about that but the suspension action is rock hard.
I'm about 88kg before riding kit so usually have to stiffen bikes up, but this thing is just the opposite.
I've wound preload to minimum and have ended up with hi + low speed compression fully open, yet it's still too hard.
Just wondering if there are known issues with transplanting the shock, or if the 04 model R1 is prone to stiff swingarm or pivot bearings?
