04 R1 Charging problem

OK... so I am about to start pulling what is left of my hair out. I have been replacing everything trying to get this to work. Now I am getting nothing from the stator.

I picked up this 04 R1... that seemed to have a bad battery. It would start with a jump... run for a little bit then die and wouldn't start again. The battery also wouldn't hold a charge for an extended period of time. So I swapped the battery out.

Low and behold... didn't do anything. Now the bike would only see 12v at the battery and slowly drop. I was thinking it was the Rec/reg, and I happened to have a 2006 R1. So I stole it from there and swapped it out. During the swap... me and a friend decided to test the stator. Come to find out that it was producing what seemed to be in the 70v area at 5000 rpms.

After replacing the rec/reg... took it out for a ride... does the same thing. I charge the battery up and it will go for about 10 minutes and the engine light will come on and the bike will slowly die.

We then figured that it HAD to be the stator. So... I pulled the stator out of the 2006. When removing the stator from the 04... it looked to be promising. There were some metal shavings inside and one of the copper wires on the stator coil were broken. So I was pretty stoked that I had found the problem.

So... swapped them out. The everything went straight forward... and took about 30 minutes to do. Started the bike back up and took it for a ride. When I got back.. the bike was at 10 volts on the battery and dropping.

I pulled the stator harness and tried to test it. Positive lead from my multi meter on the wires coming out... and the negative to the battery. Got nothing. So... its like the Stator isn't producing power at all.

Is there anything else in this system that might be causing issue?
