Hi guys, I joined the forum about a week ago and I already must report bad news. This past friday, when I went riding with my friend Zach, I was involved in a wreck. We had just filled our bikes up and went down Stateline Dr. in Texarkana,Tx for a cruise just to see if anyone we knew was out for a cruise. After reaching the south end of the road we turned around and went back toward the interstate. As we came over a hill near 24th Zach was in the lead. I noticed people standing beside the road. Right as Zach reached the group two of them ran out into the road and nearly ran into the side of his bike. He managed to swing around them and kept going. All the while i had got on the brakes. Everyone stepped back away from the road so i continued on normally. As I neared the group, two more kids ran out into the road. They both made it across the lane i was in, but one of them turned back around. When i saw this I stabbed the brakes. The bike did a nosedive and I felt my rear tire lift. It was not enough, the kid had jumped(literally) back into my path and I plowed into them. A crash, bang, boom, and ouch!!! later I am pinned under my bike. Zach turned around and came back and picked the bike up off of me. I tried to get up but was held down by other witnesses. The ambulance came and took me away to the hospital where the doctor told me i was lucky I had my helmet. He laid it on the bed beside me and said "Son, the only reason you are alive right now is this helmet. It literally saved your life" After he left I looked at the damage to my helmet. It had only been damaged on the back. If it were my bare head it would be where my skull and spine connect. I haven't seen the bike in person since the wreck, but i have seen pictures. It sickens me to look at them. Now im hoping it will be repaired and wishing I was back on a bike again. Ride safe guys and wear your gear.
