Okay, here's a question:
I purchased some 35W H7 HID's, as well as some 65W off-road standard H7 bulbs.
So my initial thinking is to install the 65W (i.e. 65 watt) bulbs in the low beams and wire up the HID's in the high beams. This would provide somewhat brighter lights all the time (via the 65W bulbs in the projectors), while providing a significant increase in power on the high beams (due to the HID bulbs).
Of course, I could also do it the other way around:
Install the HID's on the projectors (i.e. low beams), and then just boost the high beams a bit via the use of the 65W off-road bulbs.
So my question is for anyone who has run HID's on both high and low beams or started with them on one and moved them to the other. Basically, I'm wondering if the nature of the projector low beams would really be all that much enhanced via the installation of the HID's. It seems like the high beams throw a lot more light from the bulb down the road, so my thinking is to upgrade the high beams with the HID's and then just boost the low beams a bit with the 65W bulbs.
Does anyone have any first hand experience?
I was also thinking about running 55W HID's on the high beams and leaving the 35W on the low, however I sort of wanted to avoid having 4 ballasts tucked into the front cowling. I'm also not doing the Baja 1000 on my R1, so I have to draw the line some place as far as upgrading the lighting goes.
Any input would be appreciated. As it stands now, I'm thinking HID's will go on the high beams and then the off-road 65W bulbs on the low.
