So yesterday it was around 60 degrees in Michigan, so a few buddies and I went riding. At the conclusion of our trip, we were heading home and right before I got there, my bike started dying at idle at a stop light.
When it died, I started it again, it would idle for about 5 seconds and die again, to the point where now it barely cranks over and immediately dies right after it cranks over.
After doing a lot of research, I figured it could only be electrical or my engine oil.
First I say, engine oil because my engine light was on and figured I was low on oil. I put a few quarts in and still nothing happened.
Then I tried the battery itself, switched my friend's r1 battery and it would crank over but immediately die. I checked the rectifier, nothing seemed fried and wires were clean.
Checked the starter relay and fuses were good, starter relay all looked good.
Basically, it seems like the bike will turn on, crank over, but wont stay on and I'm honestly stumped.
Anyone ever had this problem or may know what it is?
Thanks in advance!
