Long story short. April 2012 let friend borrowed my bike. He wrecked it. He's banged up. (broken wrist & plenty of road rash). I made him wear a helmet.I wait 3 weeks to discuss w/ him about compensating me. I ask him to come look at the bike for an estimate of damage. He never did. I'd call him and he'd blow me off.
7 months later we had a court date. Had no choice but to take him to court. Judgement for me ($8,850)
He pleaded to the judge that I asked for $3,000 initially. I told the judge that's when I was going to fix the bike myself along with him. I won the judgement I asked for.
My question to my R1 family is, how does someone get mad at me when I ask to be compensated and he blows me off? So my final solution is to sue him.
He still hasn't paid a dime so now my next option is to legally put a lien on his property or try to have his personal items auctioned off. I'm not going to let this go.. Not a short story I know, but it could have been longer.
