I have an 09 R1 which i recently replaced the OEM battery with a Shorai (bought in Nov 12). Due to a torn hamstring i was unable to ride a lot and she had to sit. I do not have a garage so i do not have easy access to an outlet for a tender to hook up and leave it. The battery dropped so low that it would not start the bike. I ended up taking the battery out and getting a tender/charger for the battery. Now it seams like the battery will not hold a charge for more then a few days. Even after riding the bike all day the battery seams to lose power quickly.
My main question is... what charges the battery while youre riding the bike. Also lets say i cant ride the bike... would starting it up and letting the bike idle for a certain amount of time help keep the battery charged or does the bike need to be riden?
Any assistance on what i could possibly do (aside from taking the damn battery out of my bike every time) would be appreciated.
And please no smart ass comments like (ride it more)... cause if i could i would... sadly my life doesnt allow it to much at the moment.
