I have a 02/03 R-1 engine that's running rough and seems to hit the rev limiter rather quickly (please keep in mind this is in a Modlite race car).
I checked the valve clearance all 4 cylinders are within factory specs.
Timing seems to be correct, changed the plugs, two of them are darkened a little and damp, the other two are dry and light grey ashy colored.
When I have a air filter in it , it acts like it's being suffocated. The same with the filter out too but not near as bad.
When it's idling and warming up it runs fine, it's only under a load that this problem rears its ugliness.
I don't have the gauge cluster so I can't check this like a normal bike rider could.
I am getting ready to check the coils to be sure they are firing, and the exup has been removed and replaced with Graves blocking kit. Fuel delivery seems to be good also and filter is clean.
Can anyone shed some light as to where I might look?
