I recently tore my bike apart to refresh the engine. Decided to put some new rings in. Got the engine back together and ran a compression test and got low readings. I know there not going to be as high as the book says they should be on a broke in engine (210psi). The readings I got were all over the place. I knew they'd be low not having "set" the rings but....
1. 90 psi
2.100psi
3.120psi
4. 80psi
While reading the book it says to dip a teaspoon of oil on the tops of the pisions and see if the rings are the problem. With oil the numbers shoot up 30-50 percent.
1. 120
2. 150
3. 210
4. 130
Is this just a symptom of new rings or did I fail at the install? Also I put in royal purple oil. I've heard this causes problems sometime on fresh engines because it lubricates too much.
