Hello boys,

Hopefully someone here can assist. I have a 12 r1 with 8k , bike is stock except for two bros slip ons. on last 3 rides I 've noticed that the bike cuts in and out at 4-6 k rpm on steady throttle or on a gradual roll-on. I use only 93 octane. the bike is used weekly. before I take to the dealer:eek5: I was wondering what could cause this? Your feedback is greatly appreciated !

This PCV has never been used. I know that's hard to believe but it's true. I bought it awhile ago and lost it during my last move... well I just found it! I have the flash-tune interface and she runs really, really good so I will never use it.

Comes with everything a new PCV would come with. PCV, O2 optimizer, CD, instructions & user's guide, decals, USB cable, velcro strips and a posi-tap.

Not sure why my first thread was deleted, but I have a Graves full system I purchased last July. It has around 2000 miles on the system now. It is flawless minus two scratches and a small dent on the header. It was caused when I took a passenger due to how low my bike is.

I just set a personal best on the bike at the track a week ago so I'm positive its not hurting performance. I am switching to a sidewinder exhaust to maximize ground clearance for racing.

On to pictures.

$900 shipped to US, willing to ship worldwide at buyer's expense.

Bbbbbbig News: One-Day YCRS Camps Announced!!

$

Yep, we know: The YCRS two-day schools don't fit everyone's schedule and some aren't sure they want to spend the money (but grads tell us we could offer a money-back guarantee, the school is that good...). So let us announce the YCRS Day Camps, a one-day track clinic aimed at making you an insanely incredible rider.

Really.

The first YCRS Day Camp is August 13 at New Jersey Motorsports Park...you can think of it as a big, wide, safe, fun road. Our plan is to pack in as many Champions Habits as you can stand, ride a lot, do some drills, show and tell why good riders are good and how you, yes you, can be an insanely incredible rider. We're only accepting 44 riders and it's $595 on your own bike...you can rent an R6 for only $300 more and we can even get you into some gear if that helps push you off the fence.

And the day before (August 12, pay attention, geez!)...YCRS will head an N2 Skills Enhancement Day, also at NJMP's Thunderbolt course. We've teamed with N2 before and these SEDs are a chance to run a whole buncha laps and get some terrific coaching at the same time. The YCRS instructors will be there and anyone who has attended a Freddie Spencer school or Champ school knows how much fun it is to work and ride with these guys. This N2 SED is only $395, and again, you can rent a YCRS R6 on Dunlop Q3s (ask Dane Westby how great these tires are!) for only $300.

If you're incredibly smart and want to do both days, we'll take $100 off the total...that's only $890 for two days packed full of Champions Habits!

You can sign up on N2's website, www.n2td.org, or the Champ school's site: www.ridelikeachampion.com. More questions? Write teachme@ridelikeachampion.com

See you there future awesome riders!

Knox Handroid XL Gloves

I have a used Knox Handroid Gloves for sale. They work perfectly without a single seam tear or stitching issue that I can see. These are some seriously robust gloves and they are built very well. I don't think there is better protection out there for the hands. The ONLY reason that I am selling them is because I bought the exact same glove in the same color in XXL. I don't plan on wearing anything else for a long time.

Selling for $150 FIRM. I think they're properly priced at that.

Here is sportbiketrackgear's review on the glove:

R1 2002/2003 as a race bike on track

Hi Guys,

I'm from Bucharest, Romania and last year I bought this 2002 R1 to go racing. I have more than 10 years as a rider but no track experience. After a few track sessions and looking good I started this year to race in a championship. Going through this season I am here before the last stage of the championship currently ranking 6th in the rookies class. Some of my friends and fellow competitors said that having such an old bike can keep me from evolving so if I want to improve I have to change it for a new one. So here I am asking you guys if that would be a good thing to do. I can choose from a 2006 R1 racing unit, 2009 CBR 1000RR and a 2012 ZX-10 - the most expensive of the lot :D. All of them prepared for racing.

Or is it not too much trouble to invest in an older bike to make it competitive? Right now the bike is ready to race, having race handlebars, race fairings, 520 chain, pbm sprockets, CL brakes, Powercommander III with custom built map, Mivv exhaust, fast gas cap, new all balls bearings, new stock clutch (no slippery clutch) and maybe some more minor things I don't remember.

What do you guys think. Shall I change it or keep it and invest in it, of course I know the bike is obsolete and I would not recover my investment, but if I started this road... I know I will not stop anytime soon.

So, what shall I do?

Any Plumbers here? Water pressure question, please.

I have a question about water pressure at a new house that we just bought. I’m not getting what I’d call decent flow at my hose spigots. The flow in the house (faucets, toilets) seems to be ok, though. I put a pressure gauge on the incoming water supply line, before the pressure regulator, and it reads 85 psi. I looked at the pressure reducing valve, and it says it’s rated for 50-75 psi. From the looks of it, it appears that it’s set at the minimum. I’m going to adjust the pressure regulator tonight in the hopes of increasing the pressure at the hose spigots. I haven’t checked those spots with my pressure gauge yet, however.

My question is, what is considered a desirable pressure AFTER the pressure reducing valve? What is considered “too high”? I know that there is a limit on how high the water pressure can be inside the house and at the hose spigots before it starts negatively affecting appliances, faucets, toilets, etc. From what I’ve been able to find so far, it looks like an a pressure AFTER the pressure reducing valve of about 60-65 psi is considered desirable pressure. If it helps, this is what the pressure reducing valve that I have looks like. The adjusting screw is sticking up very high, indicating that it’s set at new the minimum. Turning the adjusting clockwise (tightening it) will increase the pressure, that’s why I say it looks like it’s set at near the minimum.

As always, any help will be appreciated. Thanks guys.

New oil drip under engine cover?

$
0

Bike is a 2000 R1, 22k miles

Excuse my mechanical ignorance, first of all. Just a few days ago I started noticing a few weird spots on my left boot, thought it was just road junk. Last night I noticed fresh oil drips under my bike. Seems to be gathering and then dripping off of the round black cover (engine cover?) with the Yamaha logo on it that is just forward of the kickstand.

I wiped it all down last night and looked to see if it was coming from father up in the engine and couldn't see anything. This was about 11pm at night I was looking at it. Then I put some paper towel on the pavement to see if it dripped overnight. I came back out to the bike about 9 hours later and the towel was dry with no pooling of dripping oil on the bike.

Took the bike to work this morning and ran it hard over 15 miles to really get the pressures up. When I got to work I looked at that spot and sure enough, there was a drip of oil forming just under the engine cover again.

I've been riding this bike for about 6 weeks now and 1200 miles since I bought it with zero oil leakage. Oil levels are good. I haven't attempted to tighten the engine cover yet, that is going to be my next step. Then with the plastics off double check to make sure the dripping isn't coming from up farther in the motor.

Anyone care to throw their .02 in on this? Seems to be only leaking when it's running and warm.

Regarding Supersprox tooth geometry

$

0
I decided to go for a Supersprox rear sprocket in my street 2012. I ordered the sprocket locally and received it the other day.

Much to my surprise, I instantly noticed the teeth of the Supersprox sprocket are quite different compared to the teeth of every other sprocket I have seen. The top of each tooth appears to be much "longer" in the direction of rotation. I have compared it to a brand new OEM rear sprocket, a brand new Renthal rear sprocket, a brand new JT rear sprocket and a bunch of used sprockets I have laying around. All of them appear to be very similar, but the top of each tooth of the Supersprox sprocket is much "longer" in the direction of rotation.

The attached picture shows the Supersprox to the left and the JT to the right. Both of them are brand new 530 47 teeth sprockets.

In mechanical engineering class we were always told about the importance of correct sprocket tooth geometry. Because of this I am suspecting the teeth of the Supersprox sprocket could potentially cause unwanted interference for entering and exiting chain rollers, causing all kind of vibrations, noises and abnormal wear to chain as well as sprocket...?

Did anybody else notice the same thing, or did I receive an incorrectly machined sprocket...?

If you received it like this and used it like this, did everything turn out alright...?

Question a little background on my bike had it for 3 weeks love it for mods it has
-Carbon yosh pipes
-agrapovic y pipe cat eliminator
-ecu re-flashed to yec
-k/n filter
The previous owner ran full synthetic motul 300v was wondering what you thought of this oil i had always ran semi synthetic in the past mobil 1
Bike runs really well not sure what all the re-flash actually did kind of new to the mod world i always thought these bikes were so fast i never needed to do anything i still have the stock y-pipe and cat if i ever want to go to stock.
